Education

Live or Thrive

Prosperità Umana believes we flourish when we help others flourish, this we can correlate strongly with our education systems. A proper education can help an individual advance to college and or later going into the workforce. Education will remain free to all individuals’ grades pre-school through grade 12. The real concern with the education system is what to teach our students. The current teaching standard throughout most states in the United States is the Common Core State Standard. Prosperità Umana’s goal is to continue implementing the Common Core State Standard but give awareness to all individuals of the content expected. Prosperità Umana will also strive to achieve a better college education system. The underlying problem that follows college education is debt. Prosperità Umana will adapt the Australian way of paying back their college debt. By applying this system students’ pay far less than average and they can receive additional special assistance. This way the colleges will still receive their tuition costs and the individuals that have to pay the tuition costs have time to pay these colleges back at an affordable price.

Free Education

All children in the United States have access to free public schools. Private schools are available, but students must pay tuition to attend them. Public schools in the USA are generally funded by property taxes. While public education is generally free, there are some fees associated with public schools, including the purchase of books, equipment and uniforms. These fees vary from state to state and between schools’ themselves.

Prosperità Umana will continue free education for grades pre-k though twelve. The funding will remain the same through property taxes, as that is the most efficient.

Common Core State Standard

The current teaching standard throughout most states in the United States is the Common Core State Standard. The Common Core State Standards are a clear set of shared goals and expectations for the knowledge and skills students need in English language arts and mathematics at each grade level so they can be prepared to succeed in college, career, and life. The Common Core sets a standard that teachers and students have to achieve at checkpoints throughout their education.

The standards establish guidelines for English language arts (ELA) as well as for literacy in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. Because students must learn to read, write, speak, listen, and use language effectively in a variety of content areas, the standards promote the literacy skills and concepts required for college and career readiness in multiple disciplines. The skills and knowledge captured in the ELA/literacy standards are designed to prepare students for life outside the classroom. They include critical-thinking skills and the ability to closely and attentively read texts in a way that will help them understand and enjoy complex works of literature. Students will learn to use cogent reasoning and evidence collection skills that are essential for success in college, career, and life.

The Common Core concentrates on a clear set of mathematic skills and concepts. Students will learn concepts in a more organized way both during the school year and across grades. The standards encourage students to solve real-world problems. The first of these are problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation, and connections. The second are the strands of mathematical proficiency specified in: adaptive reasoning, strategic competence, conceptual understanding (comprehension of mathematical concepts, operations and relations), procedural fluency (skill in carrying out procedures flexibly, accurately, efficiently and appropriately), and productive disposition (habitual inclination to see mathematics as sensible, useful, and worthwhile, coupled with a belief in diligence and one’s own efficacy).

Prosperità Umana’s goal is to continue implementing the Common Core State Standard but give awareness to all individuals of the content expected. The Common Core is extremely useful in the aspects that teachers from all around the nation can work together to create materials and lessons that accommodate to the Common Core. It is also useful in a student’s perspective that if the student moves schools within a town, county, or even state, they will be teaching the same material; they do not have to adjust to new learning experiences. The Common Core was mean to prepare all students to be college and career ready; this should help teachers ensure their students have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. The Common Core State Standard has multiple beneficial factors; people just need to be more informed of these benefits.

College

Prosperità Umana will also strive to achieve a better college education system. The underlying problem that follows college education is debt. Prosperità Umana will adapt the Australian way of paying back their college debt. Students can receive monetary aid via the HECS-HELP scheme, a system where students can borrow up to their entire cost of attendance, and can begin paying it back with automatic 4-8% paycheck deductions after their professional income exceeds a certain threshold, with discounts given for early repayment. By applying this system students’ pay far less than average and they can receive additional special assistance. This way the colleges will still receive their tuition costs and the individuals that have to pay the tuition costs have time to pay these colleges back at an affordable price.

Prosperità Umana aims to eventually make the cost to attend college free, including graduate school. To achieve this college tuition and additional cost will be fully paid for by imposing a tax of a fraction of a percent on Wall Street speculators who nearly destroyed the economy seven years ago. More than 1,000 economists have endorsed a tax on Wall Street speculation and today some 40 countries throughout the world have imposed a similar tax including Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, and China. If the taxpayers of this country could bailout Wall Street in 2008, we can make public colleges and universities tuition free and debt free throughout the country.

Education is an essential aspect that determines whether you just live or if you thrive in today’s society. Through the use of education students learn knowledge and life skills to help them eventually go to college and enter the workforce. Prosperità Umana will maintain a free public education for grades pre-k through twelve; and will be funded by property taxes. Prosperità Umana will also continue to intergrate the Common Core State Standard into the education system to teach the students materials that will better them for the future. Lastly, Prosperità Umana will integrate the Australian way of paying back their college debt. This way the colleges will still receive their tuition costs and the individuals that have to pay the tuition costs have time to pay these colleges back at an affordable price. We will also push to make a college education free, all the way through graduate college. We believe that a better educated society will lead to a powerful and perceptive society.
